Residential Aged Care

Residential aged care is for senior Australians who can no longer live independently at home. It includes accommodation and personal care 24 hours a day, as well as access to nursing and general health care services. It is a service that the Australian Government funds to make it more affordable and accessible for more Australians.

As we age, most of us would like to stay in our own home for as long as we are able to and, while we are in good health both mentally and physically, we can indeed stay in our own homes. Sometimes however we can recognise changes within ourselves and this can occur over a period of time or it can happen quite quickly. Some changes may make us feel a little less confident, nervous, anxious and at times confused and as a result will affect our ability to live in our own homes. It is at this time however a good thing to have conversations with family and friends around how you are feeling and taking a look at what may be available to you.

While this can be confronting, having to face questions about how we will live a good life and feel safe and cared for from this point on in your life is a very positive thing to do. Residential Aged Care can offer you a solution.

In general, Residential Aged Care homes provide help with:

  • Day to Day tasks
  • Personal Care such as bathing, dressing, going to the toilet
  • Access to health practitioner services
  • Other services including social and emotional support, and entertainment.

Residential aged care at Fairview is dedicated to looking after older people, whether it is you or a loved one, we ensure the best of care is provided to create that feeling of home.

Our style and culture is based around creating a sense of familiarity in and around the home and providing a tailormade level of care for each person to make sure life is lived the way it is needed and wanted as we age. We also include our daily activities and a regular lifestyle program that we believe can support a person’s self-confidence and own control in going about daily routines.

At Fairview our aged care residents live within a community which helps to address occasions of boredom and, for some, loneliness. To interact with others and be a part of a community where regular group catch ups and organised activities are held, has assisted many residents to thrive. However, we understand that specific activities and level of participation is ultimately a choice for each of us in anything we do and will differ from person to person. Being respectful of this and aware is paramount for our team of care staff and professionals as we acknowledge solo activities do also provide the key to a resident being relaxed and at ease in the home.

We are a fully accredited and approved service provider for residential living and care and provide a homely and friendly environment where family, friends and pets are included in everyday life.

At Fairview, we hold ourselves to the highest standards proudly accredited and audited by the Aged Care Standards Agency.

We offer:

  • 67 private room beds
  • Dedicated ensuite bathrooms
  • Double rooms for couples
  • Short stay respite room
  • A welcoming & respectful home
  • Lovely peaceful surrounds

It can be incredibly confusing when you begin the journey of considering a move to an Aged Care home and we more than most understand fully how it can impact a person and also a family.

When you do make the move from your own place of residence to an aged care home, it is important to understand what kind of fees are associated and if you may be eligible for any government assistance with your accommodation costs.

The types of fees and how much you pay will depend on:

  • your income and assets, as assessed in your aged care means assessment
  • the level of care you require and
  • the home you choose

Your biggest reference tool in working out the fees associated to accommodation in an aged care home and other costs for services is the government site specifically created to answer any questions you may have. It can be found here at myagedcare.gov.au

Our services are not exhaustive, for example learning a language or the piano, or needle point, however there are a few staples that we are proud of. We also offer tailored experiences for residents, and these can be discussed face to face when you come to visit us. We also delight in being able to deliver to individual needs and requirements where we can so please talk this through on your visit.
